The Palmetto Performance House Sports Science System

Every athlete deserves more than just hard training. They deserve smart training.

Our Mission

At Palmetto Performance House, our mission is to bridge the gap between performance training and objective data by utilizing industry-leading sports science technology to develop stronger, faster, healthier, and more resilient athletes.

Through the integration of VALD ForceDecks, VALD SmartSpeed timing gates, and Output velocity-based training technology, we provide athletes, parents, and coaches with measurable insights that guide individualized training decisions, monitor progress, reduce injury risk, and maximize athletic potential. Our commitment is to transform performance data into meaningful action, ensuring that every athlete trains with purpose and every improvement can be measured.

Our Philosophy

At Palmetto Performance House, we believe sports science should enhance coaching, not replace it. Technology is a tool that allows us to objectively evaluate an athlete’s strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure adaptations over time. Every assessment we perform has a purpose: to make better coaching decisions and provide athletes with the safest and most effective training possible.

Our philosophy is built upon five core principles.

Objective Over Opinion

Training decisions should be driven by measurable data whenever possible. We use validated technologies to remove guesswork and provide clear benchmarks for athletic development.

Test. Train. Retest.

Assessment is only valuable when it leads to action. We establish baseline measurements, implement targeted training interventions, and routinely reassess progress to ensure our programs are producing meaningful results.

Performance with Purpose

Every metric we collect must influence programming. Whether evaluating force production, sprint performance, or barbell velocity, our goal is to connect data directly to improved athletic performance on the field or court.

Long-Term Athletic Development

We prioritize sustainable development over short-term gains. For youth athletes, sports science helps us monitor growth, reinforce movement quality, celebrate progress, and build confidence without promoting early sport specialization. For older athletes, objective monitoring allows us to optimize performance while managing training loads and reducing unnecessary fatigue.

Communication Through Data

Sports science allows athletes, parents, and coaches to see progress that may not always be visible during daily training. By providing clear reports and key performance indicators, we create transparency, improve accountability, and build trust in the training process.

Our goal is not simply to collect data. Our goal is to use objective information to create better athletes, better coaching decisions, and better long-term outcomes.

Why We Test Instead of Guess

Every athlete is unique. Two athletes of the same age, height, and sport can have completely different strengths, weaknesses, and movement patterns. Because of this, effective training should never rely on assumptions. At Palmetto Performance House, we believe the best coaching combines experience with objective measurement. Rather than guessing what an athlete needs, we use industry-leading sports science technology to identify exactly where they excel and where they can improve.

Testing provides us with a starting point. From there, we build individualized training strategies, monitor progress throughout the training cycle, and adjust programming based on measurable improvements. This ensures that every athlete is training with purpose and progressing toward their goals.

We don’t train first and hope it works.

We assess first, train with intent, and measure the results.

Why Objective Data Matters

Objective data removes opinion from the training process. While coaches can observe movement quality and effort, technology allows us to measure performance with precision. This gives athletes, parents, and coaches confidence that training decisions are supported by evidence rather than assumptions.

Objective testing helps us:

  • Establish an athlete’s baseline performance.
  • Measure improvements over time.
  • Identify strengths that can be further developed.
  • Detect areas that may increase injury risk.
  • Monitor fatigue and recovery.
  • Ensure athletes are adapting positively to training.
  • Demonstrate the value of our training through measurable results.

Our Technology

VALD ForceDecks

Measures lower-body power, force production, landing mechanics, balance, and asymmetries.

VALD SmartSpeed Timing Gates

Accurately measures acceleration, sprint speed, and change-of-direction performance.

Output Velocity-Based Training

Measures how quickly an athlete moves a weight, allowing coaches to prescribe the correct training intensity, monitor fatigue, and develop strength and power more effectively.

Together, these tools allow us to make informed coaching decisions while providing athletes with objective feedback they can understand and track.
